Discover the magnificent peaks and views of the Corsican mountains on this multi-day hiking trip, following part of the famous GR20 in Corsica.

To reward your efforts, two wellbeing treatments (massage and sophrology) are included in the trip to ensure maximum relaxation!

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CALVI - CALACUCCIA
Night in a B&B
Meet at Calvi train station at 4pm for a 2-hour transfer to Calacuccia.

Night in a small, family-run hotel with dinner.
DAY 2: CAPU DI GUAGNAROLA - CIOTTULU A I MORI REFUGE
About 6 hours walking time - Night in a refuge - 750 m (2,460 ft) ascent
Today you will set off from Calacuccia in Haute-Corse on the GR20 stage to the "Ciottulu a i Mori" refuge at the foot of the legendary peak of Paglia Orba. You will walk along a beautiful ridge taking you up to Capu de Guagnarola at 1,922 m (6,305 ft). Enjoy magnificent views of the Fango valley and the northern face of the “Grande Barrière” or backbone of Corsica.
During the morning, in the peace and quiet of this beautiful landscape and just below the Radule sheepfolds, a sophrology break will help you be mindful of the present moment. You will be able to connect with all five of your senses to feel the benefits of nature.
DAY 3: CIOTTULU A I MORI REFUGE - TIGHJETTU REFUGE
About 6 hours walking time - Night in a refuge - 250 m (820 ft) ascent / 585 m (1,920 ft) descent
Today you will set off on a beautiful section of the GR20. You will walk in the shade of hundred-year-old pines, down a rocky outcrop leading to the Ballone sheepfold and then to the Tighjettu refuge, where you will spend the night.
During the day, you will discover one of the most beautiful and unknown lakes on the island, Paglia Orba lake, as well as the most beautiful summit of Corsica. A magical, timeless place.
DAY 4: TIGHJETTU REFUGE - CAPU UCELLU
About 7 hours walking time - Night in a refuge - 800 m (2,625 ft) ascent / 800 m (2,625 ft) descent
This unusual day off the beaten track will be devoted to the discovery of Capu Ucellu, a peak reaching 2,182 m (7,160 ft) above sea level. You will climb up to the top in a rocky landscape of flamboyant colours. The summit offers stunning views of the eastern face of Paglia Orba, the Serra Pianella pass, the Pointe Lejosne and the Pointe des Deux Sœurs, one of the top mountaineering spots on the island.
DAY 5: TIGHJETTU REFUGE - ASCO REFUGE
About 7 hours walking time - Night in a refuge - 650 m (2,130 ft) ascent / 500 m (1,640 ft) descent
This stage of the GR20 will take you out of the Niolu region and into the high Asco region. You will climb a fantastic peak located to the north-east of Monte Cinto: Capu Borba at 2,305 m (7,560 ft). It dominates the Lac d’Argentu and offers a magnificent and breathtaking 360° panorama over the Asco valley and the surrounding peaks.
DAY 6: ASCO REFUGE - PUNTA STRANCIACONE
About 6 hours walking time - Night in a refuge
Set out on this unusual hike, off the trail, on a forgotten portion of the first GR20 route created 50 years ago. You will climb the Punta Stranciacone, with its summit at 2,151 m (7,060 ft) above sea level. From there, you can look down on magnificent views of the Filosorma valley, the great Corsican peaks and the surrounding bays.
Normally only accessible to climbers, this summit can at last be reached by hikers thanks to a small passage that can be reached on foot.
DAY 7: ASCO REFUGE - CARROZZU REFUGE - AUBERGE DE BONIFATO
About 8 hours walking time - Night in a B&B - 500 m (1,640 ft) ascent / 750 m (2,460 ft) descent
To round off your trip, you will undertake this last stage of the GR20, which is mainly set amidst stunning rocky slopes and granite screes. The path offers some beautiful views of the Asco valley, the Balagne region, and the Tartagine forest, passing by the Lac de la Muvrella.
After a stop to see the Carozzu refuge, where a famous film was shot, you will walk on down to the Auberge de Bonifato in the shade of an ancient forest. Your stay will end with a relaxing, customised massage, lulled by the gentle sounds of a mountain stream, in which you can also bathe and soothe your tired feet.
DAY 8: END OF TRIP AND DEPARTURE
Your stay in Corsica has drawn to a close.

Departure after breakfast, with a transfer to Calvi station.

Temperatures vary according to the altitude. It can be as hot as 30°C in summer at low levels and minus temperatures on the summits.

Transport

Travel between Calvi train station and the starting and finishing point of your GR20 hike is included in the price.

Transport to and from Calvi station on the first and last day is not included in the price.

You can charge your electronic devices every day in the accommodation.
Meals

Lunchtime picnics are prepared using organic, local products, always fresh and tasty, to help you discover the flavours of this beautiful island.

Breakfasts and evening meals are provided in the accommodation.

Accomodation

5 nights in a refuge on the GR20.

1 night before and 1 night after your trek, in a small, family-run hotel (in a room for 4 people), in Calacuccia.

Health and vaccines

No compulsory vaccines.

We strongly recommend that you make sure you are up to date with the standard vaccinations: diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis, whooping cough, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B.

We recommend that you have a check-up with your dentist before you leave.

Supervision

A local mountain leader will guide you throughout the trip.

He will be accompanied by a professional masseuse who is passionate about her work. She will offer you two wellbeing sessions: sophrology and massage.

Formalities and Visa

No visa is required for French nationals and citizens of bordering countries.

BUDGET, CURRENCY AND TIPS
Daily transfers, meals, except for supplements (cold drinks, snacks, etc.) and accommodation are included in the price of the stay. Tipping is not necessary and should reflect your satisfaction with the team.

There are other insurance options available, such as Mondial Assistance, your own insurance company or the Club Alpin Français. You should check that they cover trekking.

Make sure that your insurance covers all medical costs in the event of an accident.

It is essential that you check and ensure that you have insurance cover for mountain rescue costs. If this is the case, you must provide us with the following information prior to your departure on the trek:

A certificate from the insurance company stating that mountain rescue costs are covered.

The contract number and telephone number of the assistance centre.

Be aware of the restrictive clauses contained in certain insurance policies (particularly those linked to bank cards such as Visa Premier, Gold or others), for example mountain insurance restricted to snow activities and altitude sickness not recognised as an illness requiring repatriation, resulting in refusal to repatriate.

Please check the actual content of your insurance and make the necessary arrangements where required.
